Good Evening from Earth, Specifically Seattle

Welcome, one and all, to the ClimateStrike Blog

Welcome to the new Climate Strike blog! I'm going crazy trying to build this thing, mostly because I'm new to Wix. This is the companion blog to my Climate Strike LairShop, for which I borrowed the store logo.

The youth of the world are not waiting until they "come of age" to take action on the critically important issue of Climate Change. They are leading the way, confronting world leaders and the "powers that be", and demanding to be listened to. They are looking at the world which they will inherit from previous generations; and they do not like what they see. They are demanding and compelling action, answers and solutions. I, a fiftysomething lefty folksinger, look at them in pride and wonder, and am humbled by their determination, passion, and refusal to sit by and accept the status quo. This blog and companion LairShop is for them, and in honor of their work of a lifetime.

In writing this blog (for better or worse), I want to focus on climate solutions--ways to slow down, or at least mitigate, the signs and symptoms of climate change we can perceive all around us, if we have eyes to see. There's enough online content lingering on the problems, and how screwed we're going to be in ten or twelve years. I want to follow the lead of the new generation of climate activists, those of the seemingly limitless energy, passion and determined refusal either to give up or give in to the status quo. I want to focus on those who are doing something about the climate emergency, not those who simply declare an emergency, without having a clue as to what to do about it.

I intend to profile individuals, groups, orgs, cultures, and movements who are taking action toward solutions, including indigenous peoples who have been working to ensure the health of their local environments for centuries or longer. I also want to share new information on ways of cleaning the oceans, atmosphere, soil, and ground water. And because climate action is inherently political, talk of politics will play an integral part of this content--but I'll try very hard to keep things civil.

Anyway, I'm here because I want to share solutions. And hopefully the bloody apps, widgets and layouts will work as I wish them to. I've had no luck with RSS widgets so far; but, as I mentioned above, I'm brand-new to Wix...
