So, What Shall We Write About in the Next Few Posts?

FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2022: Good evening, folks! Geez, it's been so long since we wrote a new post that Wix's dashboard has been revised beyond (my) recognition! But I guess we really must get a few posts down soon, before Elon Musk buys this platform too. But what climate-related topics should we write about, that haven't been covered better by fifty or so other climate blogs?

Well, among other things, there's a war on in Eastern Europe; and it's threatening Western Europe's supply of grain. Ukraine was illegally invaded and attacked by Russia and its Chechen thugs (oh, excuse me, "allies") on February 24, with many episodes of unspeakable atrocities against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure to follow. Russia itself has attempted to gag its own citizens from opposing the war with a complete shutdown of independent media and outside news sources, while teasing the rest of Europe with threats to launch nukes, just to get people continuously freaked out. By the way, the sanctions against Russia, and Russia's response to them, are also threatening Europe's petroleum supplies, which has prompted climate activists to renew and rachet up their calls for a transition to green energy sources. We'll see how that works out.

I'm still looking for previously-untapped sources of Climate News feeds; and just checked out the Climate section of Democracy Now! online. It looks pretty credible, though most of the stories are of the pearl-clutching, "we're all screwed, folks" variety; and here at Climate Strike, we prefer stories with more of a hopeful, solution-oriented vibe. So, we'll keep looking for shiny-new sources of climate action stories, that hopefully won't guilt-trip omnivores for eating the occasional cheeseburger. Speaking of which, has anyone tried Beyond Meat's plant-based jerky line yet? Does it taste like anything besides salt and fillers?

And speaking of Europe, I'll be using a bit of my inherited funds to make my first-ever visit to Scandinavia this coming June and July! I especially hope to witness (or even take part) in a Sankthans Bonfire around the Summer Solstice! This is the first year I've had the money even to contemplate such travels; and I hope to take zillions of photos, as well as learning how Norway and Sweden are handling climate change. I can't guarantee that I'll be in the right place at the right time to videotape Northern Lights; but I'll certainly look into it...
